La categoria Cel mai bun scenariu original au fost nominalizati: Diablo Cody - "Juno", Tony Gilroy - "Michael Clayton", Tamara Jenkins - "The Savages", Judd Apatow - “Knocked Up” si Nancy Oliver - "Lars and the real girl".
Pentru Cel mai bun scenariu adaptat au fost nominalizati: Ethan si Joel Coen - "No Country for Old Men", Paul Thomas Anderson - "There will be blood", James Vanderbilt - "Zodiac", Ronald Harwood - "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" si Sean Penn - "Into the wild".
Cel mai bun scenariu - documentar va fi ales dintre: Anthony Giacchino - "The Camden", Bill Guttentag - "Nanking", Charles Ferguson - "No end in sight", Richard Berge - "The Rape of Europa", "Michael Moore - "Sicko" si Alex Gibney - "Taxi to the dark side".
