Mai mult decat un show de decernare a premiilor, un film in adevaratul sens al cuvantului, MTV Music Television a anuntat nominalizatii, pentru editia din 2006 a premiilor “MTV Movie Awards”. In lupta pentru rolurile principale sunt "40-Year Old Virgin" si "Wedding Crashers", avand cate 5 nominalizari fiecare. De asemenea, in lumina reflectoarelor sunt "Batman Begins", "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", "Hustle & Flow", "Sin City" si "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith" cu cate 3 nominalizari fiecare.
Filmarile vor avea loc pe data de 3 iunie 2006 la studiourile Sony Picture in Culver City, Canada, iar “MTV Movie Awards 2006” va avea premiera vineri, 16 iunie la ora 13.00 CET pe MTV Europe.
MTV a mai anuntat ca editia acestui an are pentru prima data in istoria sa, trei categorii noi: "Cel mai bun erou", "Cea mai sexy interpretare" si "mtvU Student Filmmaker Award". O alta noutate este faptul ca anul acesta, MTV Movie Awards nu va mai face distinctie intre femei si barbati, inclusiv la categoria “Cel mai buna interpretare”. Rupand bariera genului si traditia premiilor, atat actorii cat si actritele se vor lupta pentru acelasi premiu mult ravnit.
“Editia de anul acesta Movie Awards va fi mai mult decat un show de decernare a premiilor – este o experienta inspirata din filme, si de tot ceea ce iubim la acestea” a declarat Christina Norman, Presedintele MTV. “Nu este nici o indoiala ca premiile de anul acesta vor fi ele insele un film de neuitat.”
Avand in distributie cele mai in voga celebritati, "2006 MTV Movie Awards" promite sa fie unul dintre cele mai reusite blockbustere ale verii. Surse apropiate productiei au preferat sa pastreze tacerea, dezvaluind doar cateva idei ale scenariului, precum si faptul ca misterul si aventura nu se vor lasa asteptate.
"2006 MTV Movie Awards" va putea fi urmarit in 171 de tari, prin intermediul a 50 de programe de muzica, in 23 de limbi si in peste 479,5 milioane de case.
